Fatima Gomez Ladron de Guevara
Fatima was born and raised in the south east of Spain. Fatima obtained her Bachelor of Laws with emphasis in European Union Law at Universidad San Pablo CEU in Madrid in 2013. In 2012 she spent two semesters in Universita di Pisa, Italy. Fatima is barred in the Madrid Bar Association. After graduating, Fatima worked as a legal intern in Medina Cuadros Abogados in Madrid. She was part of the Family and Criminal Law Departments. During her internship, she provided litigation support for witness interviews, deposition preparation, and identification line-ups.
Afterwards, Fatima went to Paris to obtain her specialization in Economic and Legal Studies of the European Union in Paris 1-Panthéon Sorbonne in 2014. Before leaving to the U.S, she did an internship at Intecmin SL in the Human Resources and Labor Law Departments, where she oversaw the review and drafting of the enterprise wide policy regarding employee regulations for senior management.
In 2015 Fatima decided to continue her studies in the United States and she obtained her LL.M in International Law, with a concentration in Business and Trade, at American University Washington College of Law. During her LL.M she was a fellow in the Academy of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at the Washington College of Law. She designed promotional material and helped coordinate different outreach initiatives for the Human Rights Moot Court Competition. In April 2016, after Fatima and her team were trained by arbitration attorneys at Dechert LLP, she participated in the Fifth International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition, where her team was semifinalist.
Before graduating in 2016, she did an internship at Mil Mujeres INC, an immigration non-profit, where she was later hired. She had the opportunity of providing legal support to clients from Latin America and Eastern Europe that were forced from home by conflict, persecution, and violence. She assisted immigrants and victims of crimes in their applications for Adjustment of Status, U-Visa, DACA, VAWA, Family Based Petition, Humanitarian Parole, and Asylum. In the summer of 2016 she was hired at Mil Mujeres INC, where she started as a paralegal preparing nonimmigrant and immigrant visa filings to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services.
In 2017 Fatima was promoted to Community Service Manager. As part of her role, she interacted with embassies and law enforcement agencies and she designed Mil Mujeres project initiatives, guidelines, and implementation strategies to identify local populations in need of pro-bono legal aid.
